Director’s Biography
Regan Latimer is Executive Producer and Creative Director at Bee Charmer Productions, a Toronto-based production company she founded in 2006. With a background spanning writing, directing, editing, and producing, her work bridges both creative and technical disciplines. Her credits include editing Emmy award-winning promo spots for Colorado’s Rocky Mountain PBS, as well as commercial and promotional video work for brands such as Hershey Canada, Toyota, and Luminato.
Regan is the writer, director, and producer of the acclaimed feature documentary Bulletproof: A Lesbian’s Guide to Surviving the Plot (2024), a funny, insightful and deeply personal exploration of queer representation on television. The film has been celebrated on the international festival circuit, screening at events across North America, Europe, and Asia, and earning multiple awards including Best Documentary at FilmOut San Diego, the Perth International Queer Film Festival, and ReelOut Kingston, as well as the Grand Jury Prize at image+nation Montreal.
She also created the hit digital series B.J. Fletcher: Private Eye – one of the earliest indie web series to secure platform distribution, running three seasons (2008–2012) on Logo Network / MTV and garnering over 16 million views. Her short films include Lindy Calls Tracy (2016), which premiered at Toronto’s Inside Out Film Festival and screened globally, and Harmony Love Matches for Life Inc. (2008), which received a festival award nomination.
Regan is a founding member of the Independent Web Series Creators of Canada (IWCC), served as Producer and Programming Director for the inaugural Toronto Web Series Festival (TO Webfest 2014), and has appeared as a guest speaker and panelist at festivals and industry events worldwide.
